Transform.Ed Briefing #61
Inside the Briefing: From teachers working towards gender equality to inspiring women to lead education
Around 122 million girls and young women are still out of school. In countries affected by conflict, girls are over twice as likely to be out of school compared to those in non-affected countries.
Despite the persistent emphasis on education being central to development, there are multiple barriers to girls’ education, including - poverty, child marriage, gender-based violence, conflict, etc. The disparity in the time spent by women and men on unpaid care constantly restricts women’s participation in education, employment, and other opportunities.
Last week, we asked our readers what could be the big boost for gender equality. Surprisingly, we received a unanimous response in the form of a green economy and care society. To come out of this peril, gender-equitable education systems nurturing the development of life skills could be our way forward, building prosperity for generations.
As an educator, how do you think we could manifest such systems within our classrooms?
