Transform.Ed Briefing #54
Inside the Briefing: From embracing professional development to building relationships - tips and tricks for the new teachers!
Stepping into the shoes of a teacher for the first time could be a daunting task, making us feel nervous and excited in equal measure. Managing performance anxiety, overcoming stage fear, prioritizing tasks, and handling classroom behaviors are some significant challenges a first-time teacher may face.
In our poll last week, when asked about the most crucial advice for educators starting their careers, our readers were evenly split between embracing professional development and reflecting on teaching methods.
Dr. Anantha Duraiappah stressed in his keynote for the ICTE 2023 the significance of relationships and learning interventions based on trans-disciplinary science and replicable evidence for transformative education.
In addition to that, Joe Ruhl, in a Ted talk titled ‘Teaching Methods for Inspiring the Students of the Future,’ emphasized ‘being the guide on the side rather than the sage on the stage,’ relying heavily on integrating the 5Cs - choice, communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity in the classroom.
Recollecting our journeys from trainees to experienced practitioners, we may recall moments of joy, celebration, disappointment, stress, and many more. We would love to know what kept you afloat amidst all the chaos.
