Policy Pulse 🏛
Policy Brief » Youth-inclusive Climate Change Adaptation: Bringing Intersectionality to the Forefront of Sustainable Development
By GAGE
The policy brief provides insights on the intersectional risks faced by adolescents and youths from different identities in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) due to climate change. In climate-focused policy-making and decision-making, the voices of marginalized adolescents and youth are often excluded. Policy recommendations suggested include actively engaging youth in climate adaptation policy, funding youth-led projects, and supporting youth climate leadership on multiple levels. The impact of youths from marginalized groups can inspire climate actions in other individuals, initiating collaboration not only with local groups, but also with government, ministries, and other stakeholders.
